Chris Griesbach

Chris was born with a gun in his hand. His first grade teacher found out what he was about when she asked him to draw something beginning with the letter "G" - he asked if she wanted a bolt action or a lever action.

After being raised in Eastern Canada, Chris moved west to Alberta for a career with the Calgary police service. This included a stint as a sniper in the Tactical unit for the 1988 winter Olympics. In 2001 he won the commissioners Cup for top marksman in the Calgary Police service.

Chris being an avid outdoors man took full advantage of Alberta's bountiful hunting opportunities. Generous seasons for numerous species left only the Month of March for Ammo reloading. His philosophy of fair chase formed a taste for guns that are practical, portable and pretty. Chris feels a custom firearm should be used in the field for what it is intended, and the dings that come just add character to a gun. He has considerable experience with the big game rifle and the varmit rifle and has an appreciation for the shotgun.

Although Chris' primary focus has been metalsmithing, he enjoys building the complete rifle including stocking as well as blueing. In 2006 Chris became a full time member of the American Custom Gunmakers guild.

In Jan 2007, Chris moved to Cranbrook to became a part of the Martini & Hagn team.
